St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago
The countdown to St. Patrick’s Day began on March 18th of last year and now that we’re in the final home stretch we want to remind everyone again just how much we love it! The corned beef and cabbage, the bagpipers, the green river, and did we mention the corned beef?!
We are excited to once again work with the Journeymen Plumber’s Union Local 130 to help dye the Chicago River green. The river dyeing will begin bright and early at 9:00am on March 17th and will last for approximately 45 minutes. For best viewing we recommend grabbing a spot on the staircase by the new Apple Store (the NE side of the Michigan Ave Bridge). And since we know everyone is curious about the dye used – don’t worry, it is safe for the environment and fish-friendly.
To celebrate our favorite holiday, we will be offering a special Green Beer and Bagels cruise at 10:00am. This cruise will include some special Irish-themed giveaways like necklaces and buttons, we will also have some fun St. Patrick’s Day facts included in the tour. On board there will be Irish-themed drinks (Irish coffee anyone?) available for purchase.
Unfortunately, tickets to our Green Beer and Bagels tour vanished faster than a leprechaun with a pot of gold. But on the bright side – we have plenty of other great tours throughout the day!
If you caught a glimpse of the river dyeing from the steps next to the Apple Store, then you’ll be right next to our Michigan Ave dock to enjoy our Architecture River Tour! Tours will start at 11:15am and run every 30 minutes until 4:30pm. Be sure to get your tickets in advance since we are expecting large crowds.
Our dock at Navy Pier will also be open and running Architecture River Tours starting at 10:45am. We’ll have a total of 4 tours out of this location on St. Patrick’s Day – 10:45am, 12:30pm, 2:15pm, and 4:00pm – we recommend securing your tickets early at this location also.
We look forward to once again taking part in St. Patrick’s Day and we can’t wait to see everyone!
